If you’re ready to start hiring employees for your startup, you’re going to want to hire people who share the same passion and drive as you do.
So getting to know them is important! Sometimes the standard interview questions just won’t cut it. Why not ask them something unexpected, which is unlikely to get a pre-prepared response?
Check out these four questions from entrepreneurs themselves and change the way you interview potential staff:
1. If you started a business, what would it be?
You need energy to work at a startup, so asking candidates about their own ideas is a good way to see how enthusiastic they are about entrepreneurship.
2. If I asked the closest person to you to describe you in one word, what would it be and why?
This is a great way to find out their best quality without asking them to boast about themselves.
3. Describe one of the best/worst professional situations you’ve ever had. What made it great or terrible?
There’s not a chance they’ll have planned for this one so get them thinking on their feet and you’ll see what matters to them when it comes to professional situations.
4. What personal projects are you working on (not necessarily commercial purposes, but can be just for fun)?
This will give you a great insight into their character and you will see how likely they are to take initiative.
