The deadline is fast approaching to enter the 11th Startups Awards, with applications in all categories due this Friday, 12th September.
Sponsored by Simply Business, the competition is open to companies that have been trading for three years or less, with awards to be won in 15 categories, including Innovative Business of the Year, Service Business of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, with an overall prize for the Simply Business Startups Business of the Year. This year also sees the addition of two new categories: Independent Shop of the Year and Restaurant of the Year.
Previous high profile winners include Raspberry Pi, Naked Wines, Notonthehighstreet.com, YPlan, Secret Escapes and BeatthatQuote.com, which was sold to Google for £37.7m. However, the organisers say that they are equally interested in celebrating the successes of smaller franchises, freelancers, home-based businesses and working parents with young children.
“There is simply no better celebration of business achievement in the UK right now than these awards, so it’s time to take the plunge,” said Jasper Martens, Head of Marketing & Communications at Simply Business. “Some of the country’s greatest business brains are on our judging panel and the awards bring real prestige – as well as a fantastic opportunity to network with the most exciting young businesses in the UK.”
Winners will be selected by a panel of twenty-one judges, including entrepreneurs, CEOs and managing directors of the country’s most successful companies, and will be announced at an awards ceremony at Kensington Roof Gardens on Thursday 27th November 2014.
