Final chance to join the Guardian’s US Trade Mission

The Guardian Small Business Network has teamed up with UPS to offer 10 UK SMEs “the business trip of a lifetime.”

Representatives from the winning businesses will be invited to attend a Trade Mission to Atlanta, Georgia in March 2015. The Guardian says that it is interested in helping small and medium-sized businesses to widen their horizons by connecting with new companies and organisations, and exploring growth opportunities in the US market.

The US is one of the most important export destinations for British companies, but it can present significant challenges to SMEs. Many smaller companies have expressed misgivings when it comes to dealing with overseas markets altogether, but a recent government-backed survey found that, of those that are activity exploring export opportunities, nearly 4 in 5 expect to have a better year for trade in 2015.

Competition winners will be given a vital insight into the issues involved in breaking the American market and the workings of the global logistics industry. They will also meet British businesses that have already established a presence in the US, will receive one-to-one mentoring from experts, and will have the chance to develop relationships with American firms.

The deadline for entries is this Friday, 5th December and applications can be submitted here.
