FSB gives verdict on the general election

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has today released a statement regarding its views on the result of the general election.

The FSB have remained strictly neutral throughout the election campaign, but have always stressed that whichever party comes in to power, they must have the security and prosperity of small businesses high on their to-do list.

‘‘What businesses will look for from the new Government is certainty and stability, both absolutely fundamental to business planning, and getting to grips with the big economic challenges. That must start with continuing to secure the UK’s long-term economic stability and addressing the deficit,’’ said John Allan, national chairman of the federation of small businesses.

All of the parliamentary seats have yet to be confirmed, but it is certain that the Conservative party will win an outright majority as they secured more than the 323 seats needed, allowing David Cameron to serve as Prime Minister for another five years.

‘‘Small business will want to see a clear plan and timetable for action on these issues, which will allow then to properly plan for the future. The FSB now looks forward to working with all parties across the UK to put in place these plans and to back small business,’’ continued Allan.
