With the UK experiencing some of the hottest weather on record, SMEs now have the opportunity to create weather-triggered advertising campaigns for their business.
The Weather Channel has launched a new self-service advertising portal for small business owners, allowing them to run their own weather-triggered TV advertising campaigns and to promote their business to local areas.
‘‘The Weather Channel UK has been successfully providing geo-location targeted advertising for national advertisers for a number of years so this is the next step for us to be able to help the UK’s small and medium sized enterprises on a local level,’’ explained Ross Webster, managing director of international sales, The Weather Channel.
Business owners can choose how far they wish to advertise to, ranging anywhere from 2-100 miles. The advertising portal also extends to mobile, allowing SMEs to target users searching for certain locations via the app and website.
‘‘Our new portal is an exciting way for SMEs to communicate with their customers around key weather moments for the first time. SMEs contribute billions of pounds of revenue to the UK economy every year and our new portal will help boost the efficiency of their marketing spend at all levels,’’ continued Webster.
