Prince Andrew has led a panel hearing business pitches from small biotech firms looking for investment and mentorship.
The Duke of York headed the Dragons’ Den-style panel at the one-day networking event for SMEs in east London earlier this week.
As part of the Prince’s Pitch@Palace programme, which enables entrepreneurs to engage and interact with potential supporters to get their businesses off the ground, each business owner had three minutes to pitch their ideas to the group.
The panel also included potential investors, mentors and biotech experts.
Aside from attracting funding from investors, the aim of the event was for small and medium-sized firms to network with peers in the industry, as well as giving them the experience of pitching an idea.
Finalists will be chosen from participants at a series of events across the country, and will progress to a Pitch@Palace boot camp in Cambridge next month. The next stage will be the final event at St James’s Palace in March.
