Manchester’s SMEs get digital support

Creative England and The Landing have teamed up with Business Growth Hub in order to support small businesses in Greater Manchester’s digital, creative and technology sector.

The partnership has attracted support from  European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and will be led by Business Growth Hub. It is thought that the new partnership will offer SMEs within the sector help to develop products and access new supply chains and markets.

Creative England is a creative industries accelerator that invests in, champions and nurtures creative talent and companies in film, TV, games and digital media, while The Landing is a technology enterprise hub that offers market-leading facilities, including usability testing labs and post production, along with office space, co-working, events and business support.

Investment in city infrastructure

The announcement of the partnership was followed by news that the Manchester Growth Company is aiming to upgrade the digital infrastructure for the city’s Business Growth Hub.

A prior information notice for a single framework contract for the delivery of the second stage of its transformation project has been published, following the award of £1m in funding by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to improve the digital offer to companies across the city by March 2017.

The Authority says the initial contract will last for five months but could be extended. The investment will be split into several projects within a digital transformation programme, aimed at providing unified data integration across all platforms to increase the efficiency and flexibility in Hub services.
